- 1 - sheet refrigerated pie crust
- 1 large apple peeled, and sliced or chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons apple jelly
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup cinnamon baking chips or butterscotch
- ⅓ cup sliced almonds
- 1 tablespoon milk
Icing
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Preheat oven to 400° (F)
In a medium bowl, toss the sliced or chopped apple with lemon juice.
On a large sheet of parchment paper, roll the dough into a 14-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a large baking sheet.
Spread the apple jelly onto the crust with a pastry brush within 2 inches of the edge. Arrange apples on the crust. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the apple filling with cinnamon sugar, baking chips, and almonds. Fold up the edge of the crust over the filling. Make sure to leave an opening in the center. Brush the folded crust with milk.
Bake 25-35 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
In a small bowl, mix the icing ingredients, using enough milk to reach the desired consistency. Drizzle over the tart.
