The vibrant green color and combination of fizzy Mountain Dew, and creamy ice cream, make this float a spine-tingling delight that will leave everyone screaming for more.

Get ready to embark on a chillingly delicious adventure this Halloween with my Mountain Dew Ice Cream Float! This Spooky Vanilla Ice Cream Float is the ultimate Halloween treat for kids and adults alike. Its vibrant green color and creepy gummy garnishes make it a fantastic addition to your Halloween-themed party.
I wanted to create a fun ghoulish drink for the Halloween Season this year! Last year I felt a little blah during the Spooky season! However, this year I’m all about the Monster Mash-ness!
As the number one fan of a good root beer float, I wondered how an ice cream float made with Mountain Dew would taste? I have heard of a “black cow” made with Coke, but never one with the witchy green stuff. It was pleasantly refreshing and yummy! (I’m not normally a Mtn Dew fan! That’s okay though…this can be the exception!)
I used vanilla ice cream, but you could use lime sherbet, or even orange sherbet for a fun brand-new flavor experience. Don’t forget to garnish this frothy easy treat with gummy worms, candy eyeballs, and gummy fingers for an extra spooky fun treat!
Simple Ingredients Needed
- 1- 2 liter Mountain Dew Soda Pop – Sierra Mist, or any lemon-lime soda. Note you can use individual bottles of soda as well as the larger 2-liter size.
- 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream – or use any different frozen treat flavors you like. Get creative!
- 1-2 drops green food coloring -optional
- 1 (6.5 oz.) can Reddi-Whip Whipped Topping
- Halloween gummies and sprinkles – Use gummy worms, gummy fingers, eyeballs, and fingers. (Fake ones! Please do not go full “Chucky” on me!)

Let’s Make Easy Mountain Dew Floats
Place 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream in 4 individual 16 ounce glasses. The creepier the glass the better!
TIP: You could also use plastic cups and draw Frankenstein or Monster Faces, with a sharpie, on the outside of the cup!
To make the Mountain Dew a brighter lime green color, I squeeze a few drops of green food coloring into each bottle of soda. This is totally optional, but I love the brighter color green. It gives it a more Hocus Pocus feel. (Sanderson Sisters of the world Unite!)
Slowly pour the soda over the ice cream. You’ll notice the fizz and foam, which adds to the eerie effect.
TIP: You can even switch out flavors of Mountain Dew. Try Baja Blast, Live Wire, or Passion Fruit Punch.

Finishing your Ice Cream Float
Take it up a notch! Top your float with a swirl of whipped cream. You can garnish your float with gummy worms, gummy eyeballs, edible eyes, or other Halloween-themed candies and sprinkles.
Offer a fun straw for sipping your ice-cold creation.
This Spooky Mountain Dew Ice Cream Float is the ultimate Halloween treat for kids and adults alike.

The vibrant green color of the fizzy Mountain Dew and ghoulish garnishes, make this float a spooky season family favorite. With a few simple ingredients you can make any special occasion, like Halloween night, so much fun for your guests!
