Collection of 4th of July Patriotic white chocolate dipped cones.

Looking for a fun patriotic dessert idea? I’ve got just the thing! Dipped ice cream cones with sprinkles! They can be made with traditional cake cones, waffle cones, or a combination of both! You can even use waffle bowls!

White vanilla wafer dipped cake cones with red, white, and blue sprinkles are almost effortless to create! They can be made ahead of time, and stored until the day of your gathering or party!

Even better? Need a last minute dessert? You can make them the “day of”. They set up quickly and only require a few simple ingredients!

Pair them with your favorite ice cream flavor for a fun and delicious 4th of July treat!

  • 1–10 ounce bag Ghirardelli’s white melting chips
  • 12-16 Cake Ice Cream cones or waffle cones
  • 1 cup patriotic sprinkles
Ingredients of dipped Ice Cream cones on a white counter top.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside while you melt the white chocolate chips.

In a medium-sized microwave-safe glass bowl, add white melting chips. I recommend following the instructions on the back of the package.

TIP: I place mine in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Every microwave is different, so I recommend only heating for 30 seconds at a time.

Stir after 30 seconds. If more time is needed, place the bowl back in the microwave for an additional 30 seconds. A reminder that most glass, or ceramic, bowls retain heat. The chocolate will continue to melt after baking time.

Stir until smooth and creamy!

Place sprinkles of choice in a shallow dish or bowl. I like a variety and choose several different types.

Take each ice cream cone, turn it upside down, and dip the rim of each cone into the melted chocolate.

Hold over the bowl until the chocolate slows dripping off the edge of the cone.

Dip each coated cone into the bowl of patriotic sprinkles. I love the red, white, and blue colors of this holiday. So fun! There are so many options these days for sprinkles. I suggest going with something smaller that won’t take away from the treat that goes inside.

Gently shake off any excess and place the cone, sprinkle side down, on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Let each dipped cone dry until set. About 10–15 minutes depending on how hot your kitchen is. This time of year it can get hot!

TIP: You can place the dipped cones in the freezer for 2–3 minutes for the melted chocolate to set up. However, DO NOT LEAVE them in the freezer. It can cause the sprinkle colors to “run” from the moisture.

Now hear me out! Of course, you can fill these festive cones with your favorite ice cream. I found a fun patriotic sorbet that went really well with these fun cones.

You can also fill the cones with candy and wrap them in cellophane bags and serve them for a fireworks treat. Yep, skip the ice cream and fill it with fun holiday treats! The kids will love them! You could even place mini cupcakes in them!

So many fun ideas!

And I know what you’re thinking! Are they really good? Do kids really like them? I mean REALLY?

Well, I will let you be the judge!

Those look like happy faces to me. What do you think?

Did you know happiness comes in a simple ice cream cone? Lol

This just screams “summer fun”! I love the carefree days of summer, don’t you? I’m not a fan of the heat (Wow! That may be the world’s biggest understatement), but I love the memories children get to make this time of year! It holds its own special magic.

Whether you’re having a BBQ or having a quiet family dinner this 4th, this is a treat everyone will love.
