Microwave Popcorn drizzled with white chocolate and topped with crushed Oreo’s and Valentine M&M’s and sprinkles, makes for the perfect “sweet and salty” treat!
When my daughter got married, several years ago (I’m feeling old realizing that was almost 8 years ago!), she and her “soon-to-be” husband, wanted a popcorn bar! I loved the idea because it was a fun and inexpensive way to offer refreshments to their wedding guests, and it fit their personalities! I have an entire post about their wedding. I loved their wedding reception. (I was exhausted when it was over, but it was so much fun to help plan and do!)
We created several different options for the guests. From traditional salty-buttery movie popcorn to a scrumptious Peanut Butter Chocolate Popcorn.
We also created a delightful sweet and salty Cookies and Cream Popcorn. It features sweet white chocolate and crushed Oreo cookies. The blend with the buttery salty popcorn was outstanding! A favorite of the guests. We know because we ran out!
For this Valentine’s version, I’ve added some Valentine’s M&M’s and Valentine Sprinkles! It’s delicious and Fun! Best of all, it’s super simple and comes together quickly for a last minute treat for your loves!
How To Make Cookies and Cream Popcorn
This requires just a few basic ingredients. You can make it with or without the added touches of Valentines. The ingredients listed below include the treats I used to dress it up for your “loves”.
Ingredients for Valentine’s Cookies and Cream Popcorn
- 2 Bags Buttery Microwave Popcorn (12–13 cups of popped popcorn)
- 3/4 cups white baking chips
- 1/2 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 10 regular Oreos
- 1 cup Valentine M&M’s
- 1 Tablespoon Valentine Sprinkles
Pop Microwave Popcorn per package instructions. Place popped popcorn in a large bowl.
In a medium size, microwave safe bowl, add 3/4 cup white baking chips, and 1/2 Tablespoon vegetable oil.
Place in microwave, on 50% heat, for 1.5 – 2 minutes. Stir. If not melted return to microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Stir again until melted, smooth and creamy. Drizzle melted white chocolate over popcorn, reserving 2 Tablespoons. Sprinkle with crushed Oreo’s. Stir/Toss to combine.
Adding Touches of Valentines to Popcorn
While the chocolate is still melted, before it sets up, add 1 cup of Valentine’s M&M’s. I love the tiny little multicolored heart sprinkles. I love how festive this treat is!
You can even toss in some Valentines Gummies, or other candies. Go wild! Get creative you sexy cupid you!
Pour Popcorn out on a sheet of Wax, or Parchment Paper. Drizzle remaining White chocolate over the top of the popcorn. Add Sprinkles. Let the popcorn set until the chocolate becomes firm.
Carefully break popcorn into bite size pieces and place in serving bowl, or fill cello bags tied with Valentines ribbon to give as gifts. (Let’s all be honest…you’re standing there eating it already. We’re just gonna pray there’s any left for gift bags. Lol)
I love a good sweet and salty combo! This is one of those classic combos and is sure to please all the cupids at your Nest this Valentine’s Day!
