The best recipes are those handed down from friends. This rich delicious Cream of Broccoli soup has been a favorite in our family for as long as I can remember. I make it every year on Christmas Eve, but it would be the perfect beginning to your Easter dinner as well.
Soups, Salads, & Sandwiches
Years ago I wanted a summer salad the whole family would love! No easy feat when you’re dealing with teens… the anti-green eaters! One thing my kids loved, and still do…BLT sandwiches. What made his BLT Salad stand out? It’s creamy fresh basil mayo dressing topped off with it’s fresh homemade croutons! Each forkful is laden with your favorite BLT ingredients and flavors.
My good friend told me about this amazing Steak Sandwich her family loves that The Pioneer Woman makes for her man! They sounded delicious and I knew we’d love them…so I went to work…added my own twist…and BAM…a new family favorite was born! The Pepper Jack Steak Sandwich!
This Raspberry Pecan Feta Cheese Salad is a copy cat recipe from a local restaurant. It’s one of my favorite salads! It helps that I’m a HUGE Raspberry fan! This salad is loaded…L.O.A.D.E.D. with flavor! Crunchy candied pecans, sweet tender raspberries, tangy creamy feta cheese, and luscious avocado all on a bed of spring mix and topped with a homemade raspberry vinaigrette! Bonus points for how pretty and easy it is to make!
My Aunt Janie was an AMAZING cook! The first time I had Chicken and Dumplings was sitting at her small kitchen table. It was one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever tasted. The soup was creamy and full of flavor, the dumplings big and fluffy. Over the years I’ve added a few of my own twists…like herbs, to those big fluffy dumplings. This is a great winter one pot meal that my entire family loves!
The Holidays are over and the temps are dropping at the speed of light! Like my Dad used to say “It’s colder than a Well Diggers….”. Well…ya know! (wink-wink) Which means only one thing…it’s time for a big bowl of thick rich hearty stew! One of my favorites is this Easy Slow Cooker Beef Stew..it’s perfect for warming up your insides!
One of our favorite holiday traditions is serving various soups and chowders on Christmas Eve with lots of appetizers! We save the “big guns” for Christmas Day! There’s something cozy about a bowl of chowder in front of the fire the night before the “big guy” comes! This Bacon, Shrimp, and Corn Chowder was a huge hit with the hubs because of its rich robust flavors…and, of course… all those plump delicious Shrimp! It’s the perfect Christmas Chowder!
Nothing beats an Old-Fashioned Classic! Unless you top it off with sauteed mushrooms, garlic, and grilled onions! Allow me to introduce you to my version of your Grandma’s Hot Open Face Beef Sandwich with rich savory thick gravy! I know, grown men are weeping for Joy! You’re Welcome!
Growing up, Thanksgiving dinner was always a big family affair. Grandma’s delicious Cranberry Apple Walnut Jello Salad was always a favorite. It’s loaded with fresh cranberries, apples, and lots of walnuts. I’ve kicked it up with a pretty scoop of vanilla nutmeg whipped cream.
This 4th of July when you stoke up the grill … kick it up a notch with these appetizing Seattle Hot Dogs. I stumbled upon this palatable delight a few years ago when I wanted to kick-up my “hot dog” game. I figured if Seattle had created a dog good enough to be named after it…then it had to be AMAZING! It is mind blowing good! A true Taste Treat!
