Deep Dish Hot Pocket Pizza.

This Deep Dish Hot Pocket Pizza recipe is the ultimate way to take a frozen classic and turn it into something truly crave-worthy. With minimal effort and maximum cheesy goodness, it’s a fun and easy meal perfect for busy weeknights, casual gatherings, or a creative twist on pizza night!

Now truth be told, I’m not a huge “hot pockets” fan! However, I am a huge deep dish pizza fan. So when I saw a video on social media spotlighting this recipe for an easy deep dish pizza, I knew I had to try my hand at it and see if it could really be done using frozen hot pockets.

I was shocked and pleasantly surprised by how well this turned out. I realize it isn’t the healthiest meal. While I wouldn’t recommend making this daily, I do think it’s a fun addition to a monthly meal plan and one I know your kids, big and small, will love. (Because trust me…the “big” kids at this Nest LOVE this dish!)

Deep Dish Hot Pocket Pizza casserole.
  • 8 individual pepperoni “hot pockets” thawed – you can substitute with cheese or meatball hot pockets.
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1–14 ounce jar pizza sauce
  • 24 slices of pepperoni
  • 1/2 pound cooked sausage, Italian or regular
  • 1–8 ounce ball of fresh mozzarella cheese, crumbled
  • ½ teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan Cheese
Ingredients for Deep dish Hot Pocket Pizza.

Preheat oven to 450°(F). You will need an 8×10 inch deep dish pizza pan.

TIP: If you don’t want to spend money on a deep-pan pizza dish, you can use a disposable aluminum foil serving dish, or, like me, go to your local thrift store and find a pan! Just be sure it is at least 2.5 inches deep!

Lightly grease the bottom of your pizza pan. On the bottom of the pan, sprinkle about ½ cup of grated mozzarella cheese. This will help create a crispy cheesy bottom for your pizza.

What makes this recipe unique is the hot pocket crust. Think of those “hot pockets” as an easy deep dish crust without all the work…plus it’s stuffed! Such a simple, easy “shortcut”.

Lay 6–8 pepperoni thawed hot pockets side-by-side on the bottom of the pan, on top of the cheese. My pan was a bit smaller than 8×10, so I could only fit 6 hot pockets on the bottom of my pan. Which will still give me 12 individual squares of pizza.

Next layer, the pizza sauce! Pour the jar of pizza sauce over the top of the hot pockets. Using a silicone spatula, spread evenly.

The fourth layer is the half-pound cooked and drained sausage. You can use breakfast sausage or, if you like a little more spice, use Italian sausage.

Top with 1½ cups mozzarella cheese, save ½ cup to sprinkle on top at the end.

Place 2–3 slices of pepperoni on top of each of the hot pockets. If you like more, you can certainly add more, just remember there is also pepperoni inside of the hot pockets!

How about some more cheese? Sounds like a good idea to me!

Begin with the fresh mozzarella by tearing it into small pieces and placing them over the top of the pizza. Then sprinkle with the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheese.
