Indulge in this exquisite Layered Peaches and Cream Dessert. Each layer, from the tender peaches to the rich cream and crisp graham cracker base, offers a symphony of textures and tastes that is perfect for any occasion!

Recently, I hosted a family pizza party, to give my new pizza oven a good work out! We invited several guests to join us. Our son-in-law’s Mom brought the most AMAZING fresh peaches and cream dessert I’ve ever had! It was incredible!

I was swooning from the first spoonful! If “swooning” is involved, it’s imperative that you beg the bearer of said dessert for the recipe!

Thankfully, she shared the recipe with me, so I can share it with all of you! You are going to love this easy-to-make three-step dessert! It can, and should, be made a day ahead of time to give it time to set up! But it can be served after chilling for several hours, the glaze just won’t be as firm.

The combo of fresh juicy peaches in a sweet tangy glaze, on top of a layer of light whipped cream cheese, brings together two of my summer favorites in one exceptional dessert!

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1-large (6 ounce) package-orange or peach jello – I used orange.
  • 4-5 large peaches, peeled and cut into large chunks or slices
  • 2½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1–8 ounce package cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
Ingredients for Peach Delight Dessert.

*Note: I only made half the recipe for the photos. (I didn’t trust myself with an entire 9 x 13 dish full of this decadent dessert!) For half the recipe use an 8 x 8 square inch baking dish, or if making the recipe as written, use a 9 x 13 baking dish.

That’s right! After doing some research, I learned this recipe originated from the Amish! Which explains why it is SO good!

To make the glaze, in a large sauce pan over medium-high heat, add 2 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.

Ingredients in a sauce pan for peach glaze.

Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. The mixture will thicken and become clear as it begins to boil. Boil for 1–2 minutes.

Remove the mixture from the stove and add a package of orange, or peach, jello. Stir until well combined.

Place the mixture in a heat-safe bowl. Chill until cool to the touch. Stir frequently! Be sure to remove it from the refrigerator before it sets completely.

In a large bowl, add 2½ cups of graham cracker crumbs, 6 tablespoons of sugar, and the melted butter.

Mix together until combined and crumbly. Set the mixture aside while you make the cream cheese layer.

In the bowl of your stand mixer, using the wire whisk attachment, at medium-high speed, whip the cream until stiff peaks form. Remove from the bowl and place in another bowl. Set aside.

Whipped cream in mixing bowl.

In the same stand mixer bowl, add softened cream cheese. Whip until smooth and creamy. About 2–3 minutes.

Add ½ cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Mixing cream cheese layer.

Add the whipped cream to the cream cheese mixture and fold the two together until completely incorporated.

This is a layered dessert, starting with the crust, then the cream cheese layer, and topping with fresh peaches and glaze. The original recipe calls for doubling the layers…but I think it’s much better in three separate distinct layers! Plus, why do all that work?!!

In a 9 x 13 baking dish add graham cracker crust, reserving 1 cup. Using a fork or spoon, press graham cracker mixture into the bottom of the baking dish. This is a loose crumbly crust.

Add cream cheese mixture on top of the graham cracker crust. Spread evenly with a silicone spatula. It’s so light and airy that it spreads easily!

Add cream cheese layer to the peach dessert.

Place the prepared peaches in a large bowl. Pour the orange jello glaze mixture over the peaches and stir to combine. You can load this recipe with peaches! It’s one of the things I love about this recipe.

TIP: You can add the peaches to the glaze as soon as the glaze cools. Just make sure you’re ready to layer as soon as it’s ready, otherwise it will “set” as firm as jello!

The beauty of this recipe is that the jello glaze prevents the peaches from turning brown. They hold their stunning color and freshness for several days!

Preparing the peaches for a peach delight dessert.

Pour the peaches and glaze over the top of the cream cheese and whipped cream layer. Spread evenly.

Sprinkle the reserved graham cracker crust on top of the peaches and glaze.

Carefully place the dessert in the refrigerator on a level surface for several hours, or preferably, overnight.

To serve this truly delightful dessert, cut into squares, or spoon into serving bowls.

TIP: A word of advice, if you don’t have time to allow the dessert to set up overnight, the peach layer will be thick, but may not be firm. Don’t let that stop you from serving or making this dessert. It’s wonderful either way! You just may have to “scoop” it to serve, rather than cutting it into squares.

I can’t even adequately express how much I love this dessert! Each layer is perfect and compliments the other layers!

If you’ve ever had fresh peaches and ice cream, and love it (and seriously…who doesn’t?), this dessert is very reminiscent of that simple delicious combo.

Forkful of peaches and cream dessert!
  • Can this dessert be made with other fruit? Absolutely! You just want to switch out your jello flavors to match the fresh fruit of choice. Some other options would be blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, and strawberries. You could even use canned cherry pie filling. I would use 2 cans for a 9 x 13 pan.
  • How long can this dessert be stored? 2–3 days if covered with plastic wrap and stored in the refrigerator. After that, the fresh fruit and graham cracker crust can become soggy.
  • Can this dessert be made ahead of time and frozen? No! This is not a freezer-friendly dessert. You can make it a day ahead of time and keep it stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

There’s nothing better than a recipe you’ve acquired from a friend or family member after enjoying it! It’s a treasure you can pass down from generation to generation. This is one of those recipes. I know it’s going to be a regular at our family gatherings and I hope it will be at yours too!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by my Nest today! Have a wonderful week!

Happy Nesting!
