Top your favorite salad with this creamy, smooth, and tangy Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing! It’s perfect for tossing with garden greens or a fantastic dipping sauce for those hot wings!
I don’t generally make a ton of homemade dressings…but when I jumped onto the Classic Loaded Wedge Salad Train…this homemade blue cheese dressing was so amazing I knew I had to give it, its own post! It’s just that good!
This homemade dressing is quick and easy to make! If you’re a Blue Cheese fan…you’ll want to make sure you always have a jar of this on hand! It’s so good that friends and family will request this recipe!!
Let’s make some yummy dressing for those healthier lifestyle New Year salads!
How To Make Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing
In a blender, or food processor, add 1 cup buttermilk, 1 cup of quality mayonnaise (like Best Foods or Duke’s…not to name brand drop!) 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 3 teaspoons apple cider vinegar.
Mix until well blended and smooth.
TIP: If you prefer a thicker blue cheese dressing reduce the amount of buttermilk by 3–4 Tablespoons. If it’s too thick you can add more buttermilk! You can always thin out a dressing, but it’s more difficult to thicken one.
Add 4 ounces blue cheese crumbles. Blend until smooth and extra creamy!
TIP: If you want a “chunky” blue cheese dressing reduce the amount of blue cheese when blending and then add it after blending.
Store dressing in a jar and chill for 1–2 hours. This dressing will make 2 pints of prepared blue cheese.
You can store this dressing up to two weeks in your refrigerator in an airtight container or jar.
It’s amazing that just a few staple ingredients create such an amazing dressing. I served this dressing during the Holidays on Wedge Salads and my family raved about this dressing and wanted the recipe.
You know a recipe is a winner when requests start rolling in! I know you’ll have the same experience when you make and serve this recipe.
